A Rite of Passage


It's happened. I never thought it would, but it did. How many times have I read articles or columns about exercising and working out and it says to contact a physician before starting an excercise program? And I always thought, "Oh, please. I'm sure."

Ummm..... I hired a trainer. Dude, I am out of shape.

Out. Of. Shape.

Sore lower back from sit-ups or reverse crunches, or whatever. Sore triceps and shoulders (traps?) from a variety of arm raises and pushes and lat pull-downs. Sore shins, for cripes' sake.

Muscles I didn't know I had are sore. Embarrassing and disappointing. That's what happens when I only rely on physical activity to stay loose and flexible. Now I have to work at it.

Being 39 sucks.

I'll get there.....by summer I'll be smokin'! Or at least that's what Jenny says (PT). But I pay her to say that.......
