Really, I have nothing much to write about today...
I gave the kids an assignment to start making a list in their Writer's Notebooks about life lessons they've learned. Not like how to add numbers or tie their shoes or ride a bike. Not those kind of lessons. But random, abstract things that are important.
Not sure what we're going to do with our lists, but I felt the need. And I'm the teacher. So there.
Now I need to start my list...
1. The smell of coffee in the grocery aisle is delicious
2. A good Jackson 5 song can lighten any mood
3. Flossing really IS important
4. Sometimes a piece of birthday cake and a glass of red wine = a perfect dinner
5. Competition is good - it's not always damaging to the soul
6. A good cry can be refreshing
7. 5th graders are sometimes the best teachers
8. When you exit a public restroom, it's a good idea to check for toilet paper stuck to your shoe
9. Don't take things too seriously all the time; lighten up
10. When applying sun screen, make sure to cover ALL spots. Otherwise you end up with random red spots on your wrist, ankle, knee, etc.
11. God is good
12. A dog park is one of the most fun places to visit
13. Trust your gut
14. Be sure to have at least one pair of jeans that you love
I'm not done. I'll keep adding to the list. Notice, however, that learning to cook is NOT on here. Haven't quite done that yet. Oh well....
